Netflix has unveiled a teaser trailer for The Archies, an upcoming Indian musical movie inspired by Archie Comics. The teaser debuted during Netflix’s TUDUM event and provides a glimpse into the highly anticipated musical.
According to Variety, the Archie comics are popular on the Indian subcontinent, leading to this adaptation. The teaser reveals that the story is set in 1964 in Riverdale, featuring references like Pop Tate’s Chok’lit Shop. Viewers can see the teenage characters singing, dancing, and getting a taste of the music in the movie.
The Archies is directed by Zoya Akhtar and co-written by Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Ayesha DeVitre. Tiger Baby, the production company led by Akhtar and Kagti, produced the film with Sharad Devarajan from Graphic India. Akhtar previously directed the acclaimed musical film Gully Boy in 2019.
